All,
I have an issue with formatting.Report output is excel 2002.
I have a list report with a header and subtitle. When the header is in the table or block the formatting for list(column width) is not applied. When the header is applied as a text without the table object  it works fine.

Now the issue is subtitle.Even if size and overflow is applied to the subtitle, the list columns appear much wider .The formatting for column width is not applying. On removing the subtitle the columns display as formatted.

The list is not in a container(table, block)

Please help!

How many columns you have in your list report? Say you have 5 columns.

Drag a table, define 1 row & 5 columns and drop it where you want to place the subtitle. They select the table and remove size & overflow ( by default would be 100%). Now select all the cell from table (5 columns) and from the Menu bar click on 'Merge' option. now you would see the table would look like a block, now drag a text item and drop inside it and define your subtitle.

Note: Size & Overflow doesn't work efficiently when you render the report in excel.

Hope it helps

Thanks

Thanks PRIT. I have tried the solution you have mentioned. It did not work.Should the size of the table with merged
cells be same as the column widht of 1st column in the list?Have tried the text in table with/without size and overflow.
It does not work.

I did run it in excel.I was wondering that they should be some way to get around this formatting in excel.

It should work. I have a lot of excel reports and have been successful with this technique though.

Not sure where you are missing and without seeing the report difficult to guess such formatting. You may attach the XML spec, but I can only have a look at it tomorrow, don't have cognos installed at home :)

As I said Size & Overflow doesn't work efficiently with excel output, you may clear it.

Have you applied the same technique which I said for the header, if not then that might be causing the problem.

Hi Saps,
Could you please tell how are the subtitles created? Well in the list, manipulating with the List headers and Overall headers similar thing can be achieved. It is tried and tested. However, it would be helpful if you could attach the snapshot of your report, so that the requirement is more clear :)

Hi,

I'm having a similar excel formatting issue.  I've created a report which produces a funnel report and so the report looks like a tree diagram.  However I've since been told that they want to be able to use this within a Powerpoint document.  I've tried exporting it into Excel, but the cell lines which are invisible within cognos, are all visible and it looks ugly.  If anyone could lend me any advice I'd appreciate it.

Line's wouldn't be hidden in excel, have you tried with 'white' line border? If not then try and certainly it does.

It's always difficult to guess formatting issues, since report design process differs from developers to developer. It would be much more helpful if you can attach the XML spec or screenshots of your report?
