I have a requirement from my client for cognos planning.

I have a hierarchy like mentioned below in which A is the top manager , B, C & E are 2nd level manager and B1 , C1 & E1 are the contributors who will submit the data for each manager level.
A
--  B
      --B1
--  C
      --C1
--  E
     -- E1

As per cognos when B1 enters the data it is visible to the top level manager i.e A irrespective if the data is approved by the line manager or not i.e B in this case.

My requirement is that the top manager i.e A should only see the data which is approved/Locked by B,C & E and not the data which is in progress / Not approved by B ,C or E

Please let me know if this can be achieved in Cognos planning Contributor.

Hi Wadhwa,

Unfortunately I'm not aware of any structures that would prevent data from being rolled up the hierarchy given the example you outlined.  There would probably be a way to accomplish 80% of what you require by using system links / admin links and a slight modification to your hierarchy.  I'm not aware, though, of any way to mask data at a parent level based on if the line manager approves the submission.

Cheers
