No text data in Analyst 8.4 table layout publish

Hi,

A problem with Planning 8.4 (8.4.27.80) Analyst table layout publish.

Text data either from D-list formatted or text format cells
does not appear in the publish database.
I've used the Great Outdoors cube go_capex_contributor.Asset Purchases to
test this and also created another very simple cube with just text formatted data just to try out.

I've tried all options of the Analyst publish
wizard to include different data types in case of non-uniform data etc., even tried each of the dimensions as "Dimension for publish"...

However,
Analyst publish with view layout from the same cube is fine with the text,
also no issues with a table layout publish from capex Contributor application with publish settings corresponding to those when testing in Analyst.

I'm running these on a laptop with SQL Server 2005 SP3, would like to see it work before playing around with publish in client's environment.

Any ideas, some obvious settings I've missed? Fix Packs, 8.4.1..?

Hi Mr J,

I know of a defect that was seen back in 7.3 that required a workaround to be followed.  Please try creating a new publish container and in the options select to 'include rollups' and attempt the publish again.

Even though these steps were written for 7.3, I'm not sure when this issue was corrected.  I'm still looking into this.

Thanks for the tip, hadn't ticked that option yet since I optimistically thought I wouldn't need rollups in the data as, in fact, I don't... Text is published now alright.

What puzzles me is that if there's a known defect in 7.3 how come it still be in 8.4. I guess Analyst publish is then not that popular, but I would imagine someone interested in this option before me.

I just installed 8.4 FP 2 but this issue is still there, ie. text don't show up if I don't include rollups.

Great to hear it worked!

Although the defect was identified in 7.3 sometimes an issue like this won't be fixed because it will take too much time and / or money.  Sometimes a company can escalate a defect, but It's a Cognos product management decision as to which problems are fixed.
