Report View doesnt work in the same way as the Source Report

Help help help!  I've got Report View weirdness.  Cognos 8.4(.2 i believe)

I've got some complex RS reports with conditional formatting and conditional measures driven by prompts (eg. show a column as $ or $K, show variance as $ or % etc), as well as some other conditional formatting (eg. show negative values in red).  The prompts exist on a prompt page, as well as on the report page to allow reprompting after the report has been run.  As I don't want the initial prompt page to be shown, Ive created some report views and saved prompt values, so the report runs straight to the report page.

The source reports run and behave perfectly with saved prompt values.  But the report views do not work correctly - the first run is OK, but the reprompting to choose between $ or % variance always shows the value as a %, even though the report detects that the prompt selection has changed (as the column label is updated).  This makes no sense whatsoever as in theory, both are running the same report definition.

Its almost like the report view is executing the conditional formatting in a slightly different order to the source report.  Any ideas Cognos guns?

Cheers,
J

Can you change value of $ and % to 1 and 2, then test?
I guess may be the special characters could be the issue?

Also clear the cache...

I did entertain the same thought and removed all symbols from the variables, values, prompts, conditional headers etc.  My MUNs also had the % symbol in them, so I substituted other members without the symbol and I've still got the same issues - but once again only in the report views, not in the source report.

I've republished packages, cleared the cache, recreated the report views from scratch etc all to no avail.

I suspect it might be a bug but I'm trying to exhaust all other options before I go down the tedious support path with IBM.  Any other suggestions/known issues/bugs etc (Cognos 8.4 FP2)?

Cheers
J
