Dynamically update the Default Selections for prompts across multiple reports

Hi there,
I am building a set of reports in Report Studio based on the Generated Framework Manager Model created via Cognos Planning.  The source cubes have a number of dimensions (eg Products, Regions, Measures and Months etc.)

Running the reports requires the User to select the Month and Year for which they would like to have the report run.  To make life as easy as possible for my User community, at present I am going in to each of my reports and ensuring that the Default Selection for the reports is correct (this requires changing the Default Selection for the Month every month, and the Year, once a Year).  Although do-able, it is somewhat tedious.

I was wondering if there was a better way of doing this.  I would want the User to run the report, see the default month that I expect most of my user community to want, but be able to change the selection if, for example, they wanted to see last months report etc.

Any ideas? Many thanks!

PS: I tried to look into using a #prompt# macro in Framework Manager, but am not sure this is what I am after...or at least the things I tried didn't work!

I have been continuing to experiment with the #prompt# in Framework Manager.

As far as I can see, I can get the following to work in FM:

#prompt( 'Latest Complete Month Prompt', 'integer', '[Model].[Unformatted list 4 Mmm - No Total].[Last Month CY Disp Order Number]' )#

When I test the Query Subject in FM I correctly get the Month Number that relates to the Latest Complete Month.

However, the reason I have been trying to do this is so that all of my reports which have a User Defined Prompt Page, and use a Prompt with a Parameter Name of Latest Complete Month Prompt will show as their initial value the answer I have been getting in FM.  This just doesn't seem to be working.

Any ideas before I pull what little hair I have left out!!!

Hi, did you every figure out how to make this work?  I have the same exact problem and am looking for the solution.

Thanks, Steve
