Upfront not applying userclass security

I am in the process of moving our Upfront/IWR to a new server in a different data centre.  We are also migrating from 7.1 to 7.4MR3 and moving from Windows 2000 Server to Windows 2003 Server 64bit (standard server OS in the new data centre).

If you want to know about fun things with IWR, Oracle and ( ) in path names, let me know, but that is another story.

I finally have Upfront and IWR working, but there is a catch.  Upfront is not honouring any of the folder security.  What I mean is that all users can see all folders in Upfront.  When they look at their profile, they can see the correct user classes.  When they run an IWR report, they can only use a user class that they are a member of.  As an administrator, when I inspect the security of the folders, it appears to be set correctly, but Upfront just appears to ignore it.

IIS appears to be configured correctly do disallow anonymous login.

I've reviewed the deployment documentation and I believe I have done everything correctly.

Here's what I have done:

  • Migrated the namespace from Active Directory to a new SunONE Directory Server by using Access Manager to export/import via LAE.
  • Used UPFPACK to backup up Upfront and UPFUPGRADE to load to the new server.
  • Used DSDUMP and DSLOAD to dump and reload the IWR content store.
  • Copied the IWR reports sets and output files to the new server
  • Used IWRCONFIG to reset the path to the reportsets.
  • In Upfront, used the Gateway manager to change all the gateways to the new server name.

So, why is Upfront ignoring the folder security in the portal?  It knows who the user is, shows them their correct news box, knows their user classes, but is not applying folder security.

Any ideas?

You need to define NewsIndex Administrators and Server Administrators in Server Administration - Upfront.
