How to flex on multiple dimensions...

Hi,

I have a problem which is proving difficult for me to solve and any help would be appreciated...

We receive data in csv format that gives the average consumption based on a set of customer numbers, we receive this by 3 dimensions - Product, region and month

I need to get this data split into 3 more dimensions - payment type, CoreOrPremium and a y/n indicator.

To do this, i use data from the billing system by these dimensions to get the average consumption based on another set of customer numbers. We then use this split to break back on the missing dimensions.

However, the data from the billing system is out of date, and the latest data is incorrect (the report is broken). regardless of the data been incorrect, i need to flex the average consumption so we get the 'right' breakdown by profit centre.

The problem is the profit centre is not determined by one dimension, Core + Credit payment type = PC1, Core + Prepayment = PC2 and Premium + Credit = PC3

How do i change the average consumption to breakback on 2 (or more) dimensions - i was thinking about putting in percentages that add up to 100 over the 3 pay types and 2 core/premium, but this seems to not be working.

I have suggested that we ignore the base data and ask the business what they want the split to be over each dimension, that way they will end up with what they want!!

any one have any good ideas about to solve this?

Many thanks
G
