how to specify server for iqd in notepad

Hi all.
I have been looking online and am not sure how to specify the connection for a server for an iqd I want to create in note pad for transformer.
Here is the iqd so far. it is just one select statement, as I am just wanting to learn to build the connection for the iqd.
I only have power play transformer to work with.

You must create a data source in Cognos Access Manager! You can download an instruction (http://support.cognos.com/supported/docs/en/powerplay/7.1mr1/iqd.pdf) for creating IQD's files from the KB of Cognos.

or in impromptu.ini or was it transfrmr.ini ? I've forgot.
