Good morning,

I have a problem in the upfront. How long to run a report in Upfront, it does the following error:

The report request failed.
The execution of this report at 02/01/2010 09:18:50 failed due to the following reason:
Unable to connect to database.

But when I run the report directly on the server, run smoothly.
Already tested connection and it's all right.

The will that is giving wrong?

Thank you very much.

Hi,

Is this an Impromptu report being run in Upfront via IWR?  If so, have you tried testing it in Impromptu Client or on the server in IWR?  If you go to your IWR server, you can run the IWR executable directly from the command line, then use <ctrl> o to open and run the report in question on the server - this will emulate what IWR is doing via the call from Upfront.

My guess is that the COGNOS.INI file on the IWR server does not have all the correct database definitions in it (but that's just a guess!) :)

Regards,

MF.

Hello MF,

It is a report published in the Impromptu and IWR has also ran on the server using the client, but when the road IWR server in case this error .....

Thank you!

MFGF

Hi,

Try running it using the IWR executable directly on the server:

1. Launch a Windows Explorer session and navigate to Program Files\Cognos\cer5\bin
2. Double-click impserver.exe
3. Open your report using <ctrl>o

Does this work successfully or do you see an error reported?

Hello MF.

I opened the report but did not see any error and also did not run because it has a prompt date and when I click ok, just nothing happens and neither left the prompt. I am clicking ok and nothing .....

Hello,

I just did a test. When I take the filter it runs without error ......

Is it possible the report link in Upfront is pointing to another version of the report saved somewhere?

Try republishing the report to IWR - does this fix the problem?

Hello MF,

I've opened the same directory that is published in the procedure you gave me and it works right. This report and environmental contingency. The same also works in the production correctly.
Already erased and re-published but the error continues.

I am already going crazy with this situation .....

MFGF

Ok - not sure what else to suggest.  Do you have the ability to log it with IBM?
