So I believe one of the new features of 8.4 is the possibility to install the contributor client on a machine without being local admin. Seems very good - no more need for to create an installation package and distribute to the users - BUT this doesn't seem to work for us:

When trying to access the 8.4 applications from a machine where the 8.4 client isn't installed we get a download button. Clicking on it downloads cognosrcp.msi from the server to the client, but then when we run it we get the following error message:

"An attempt was made to download a component which does not contain the required security signature. This operation cannot continue. Please contact your administrator for further assistance.':"

Has anyone experienced the same issue and if so how did you solve it?

You'll need to contact support. Seems like the msi signing has expired

Thanks got a reply from Support. The certificate expired a couple of days ago and they are working on it

Gunes

The certificate issue only affects users who are doing installing via the "pull" method, where by the provision agent which checks to see if you have the framework and the client installed.

If you install from the CD/asking your administrators to push out the 2 msi's to local client pc's then you can execute the 2 msi's and not hit into this certificate issue.

Alternatively, you could wait for a potential fix to be made available.
