"Unknown Error" in EP 8.3 Contributor after ticket time elapses w/o saving

Prior versions gave notification and new login request after timing out. EP 8.3 SP1 is giving "unknown error" and not allowing save after ticket time elapses. We have a workaround, but are puzzled about a possible fix for this.

You are hitting an Inactivity timeout of the CAM passport given to each and every session.
This setting by default set to 3600 seconds (60mins) and you can amend it within Cognos configuration under security authentication.

Please be realistic with this figure, increasing this to a really high value can have ramifications.

I believe this issue is fixed in 8.4 GA, and will prompt the user to log in after a time out.

As always, I would pursue the option of educating end users to save their work frequently.

Thats basically the conclusion we came to, but I didn't know about it being fixed in 8.4. Interesting because it seemed to give the "login again" option in previous versions... ::)
