distributed installation of IBM Cognos 8

we are planning on installing Cognos 8 with a distributed app server architecture.

quick questions;
1. if I have 3 app servers, do they need to be the same specs (CPUs, RAM)?
2. does the distribution provide fail-over?

Hi,

To answer your questions in order:

1. No they do not need to be the same spec (or even the same platform - you can mix different windows/unix servers in the architecture).
2. Yes, multiple Application Servers will automatically load-balance and failover, plus a standby content manager can be added to act as failover for the CM.
