Unable to connect to the specified Cognos PowerCube

We're trying to bring a Cube into an FM model, but I keep getting the following warning when I run the Metadata wizard and select the cube package as my datasource;

Unable to connect to the specified Cognos PowerCube. You can verify the connection information in Cognos 8 or continue with creating the package.

Do you wish to continue creating the package?

Does anyone know what causes this?  I can select the cube and I can click on Yes and create the package, but the metadata isn't imported, as expected after getting this warning.  We are able to open this cube in Analysis Studio and everything looks fine.

Thanks...

I'd start by confirming the Datasource is setup properly in Cognos Connection.  I'd bet it is not setup properly.

If you have Unix/linux filesystem in play, you will need to specify path to both that filesystem as well as a Windows filesystem.

It turns out that the problem was the Windows path to the cube.  We were using the local path, and we needed to us a UNC path because FM is running on different computers, and not on the Cognos Connection server.  I thought that if I used a data source on Cognos Connection, FM would use it's information to look at that server's file system for the cube, but not so.

So using a UNC path seems to fix our problem.

Thanks for the reply.
