Disappearing Access Permissions in CRN

I ran into a problem yesterday where every access permission on the public folders, packages, folders and reports was reset/wiped out to null.Ã,  TheÃ,  same was true for the capability to use Query Studio and Report Studio.Ã,  Our users just use Query Studio and run the pre-authored reports.Ã,

Our environment - Solaris 8, Oracle 9i (Client), WebLogic 8.3, CRN 1.1.

I am looking for the cause(s) of why this occurred and I am hoping someone has a solution to prevent it in the future.
Even if this has happened to you and you never found the cause, I would like to hear about it.

Any help or suggestions would be truly appreciated!

We run ReportNet on Solaris 9 and this happened three times when we were first deploying.Ã,  Our server admin opened a case with Cognos but it never went anywhere because they said it was user error, although I disagree based on the activity leading up to the wipe-out.Ã,  It hasn't happened in several months.Ã,  The main difference since that time was that we "tuned" ReportNet---changed the configuration type to "Large", set the sort buffer size to 16 MB, and increased the number of high/low affinity connections to 8 (2 X Number of CPUs). If this problem happens again I'll open another case and will be able to better communicate the conditions leading up to it.Ã,  Sorry I can't help you any more, but at least you know it has happened to others.

Thanks for your insight - I will look into our configuration and adjust it as you suggest.  The only noteworthy thing we did before it happened was to reboot the server.

We have run across this exact same problem.Ã,  It happened several times a couple of months ago.Ã,  After more elaborate configuration of the Cognos Connection permissions, the problem went away.Ã,  It re-appeared just a week ago... two days in a row in our PROD environment and once in our QA environment.

Also in our case, the server was rebooted prior to the problem occuring.  I was not able to recreate the problem through further server reboots though.

Our environment is a two server Windows Server 2003, IIS, Content Store in SQL Server, CRN 1.1

Being unable to recreate the problem has left both us and Cognos Support without too many options.

I wish that I could offer a solution...

Thank you for responding, I appreciate your time and the information you
share.  It helps to know that others are experiencing the same thing but
with a different configuration.  At present we are going to deliver using
CRN 1.1 but the next version will be 1.1 MR2.  Has anyone out there
experienced this problem with a version of CRN other than 1.1?
