Associate a measure

Hi
i want know under what cirumstances we associate a meassure to (dimension or level????)
as i know by defalut all measures which are in measure pane are associte with dimensions and levels by deafault..
why we need to associate a measure !!!!! whats benfit of doing it...
please explain i am confused ???

hi sap,

Its like the primary and foreign key .
e.g. u r taking ur dimensions from Table1 and measures from Table2,
then to fetch data from table1 and Table2 u need to hav one common key in between them .
that is nothing bt the SCOPE between the dimensions,levels and measures.
