Hi there,
I hope someone can help me.
At the moment, we are working with Analyst and Contributor Version 8.1.1636.0.
In the future, we are planning to upgrade from Cognos Planning 8.1 to 8.2., is it necessary to install 8.1.MR1 first?

Which improvements can you report from Version 8.1.MR1, are there any changes or advantages compared with 8.1.1636.0?
???
Thankyou!

To go 8.1 -> 8.2 you don't have to set up 8.1 mr1 first.
8.1 mr1 was mostly stabilizing release, no major new features (there were all left to 8.2)

I'd consider moving directly to 8.3, since 83 (not 8.3 sp1) is equal to 8.2 + bug fixing.
Only thing that you'll need to adapt to is to use Cognos Connection.

Hi,
thankyou for your quick reply!
Cognos Connection and Cognos Planning should always be at the same version level?

We´re working with Cognos 7 and Cognos Planning 8.1. without major problems.

You mentioned, Cognos Planning 8.2.  also has new features - instructions necessary?

Hi,

No, but if you'll have both 8.2, you'll gain possibility to publish planning macros to connection as jobs (and to use event manager in planning process and more)

What do you mean by instructions? To end users? Nothing changes much to them, except for validate, which is quite easy to get used to.

At the moment, we´re publishing manually to Report Net - but we are planning to upgrade both BI and Planning to same version level.

Concerning instructions: I meant an update for the Planning and System administrators (if necessary).
