Can anyone describe the intent/function of a Dashboards "List" Visualization?

As a user with more Cognos Report authoring experience, I am certain that the Dashboards' Visualization named "List" is not the same as a Reports' "List" container.

It appears that the Dashboards' "Table" Visualization is more like the Reports' "List" container.

Thanks to anyone willing to try to share a description for what a Dashboards' "List" is...or...does.
