Colour Coding Map Visualisation using text-valued dimension

Hi all,

I'm making a map visualization of the United States and I'm trying to colour code each city based on what state they're in. I've tried putting the state data item in the colour sorting box but I get an error from that. The only alternative I found was to assign a number to each state and then use that as a measure instead.

If there are any other ways to do this without having to shoe-horn the data in please let me know cause I'm thinking of a couple of other applications where this type of colour formatting would be helpful.

Thanks!
