Websphere question

Environment: Cognos 10.2.2/AIX.

The very last 10.2.2 Fix pack released included an update to WebSphere Liberty 17.0.0.2 but this version still includes many vulnerabilities, most of which were fixed in 17.0.0.4 and above.

I have been tasked with doing some preliminary analysis on updating WebSphere Liberty to a later version but I am unsure if it can be updated directly outside of what is provided with a Cognos install or fix pack.

Has anyone upgraded WebSphere Liberty manually? If so, what steps did you take to do this?

If it can't be done, can 10.2.2 run on a full WAS installation or Apache instead and thus bypass the version of Liberty that comes bundled with Cognos?

Cheers.

Hi,

I believe it was possible to run Cognos 10.2.2 within a full WAS installation (but this option was dropped when Cognos Analytics 11.0 was released).

The issue you'll have is that IBM no longer hosts the documentation pages for Cognos 10, so the steps will be tricky to find.

Good luck!

MF.
