Hi All,

I am trying to get controle of the layout (difference) between an report with the option "Run with full interactivity".
Do I miss a point how to controle the aligment (horizontal / vertical) ?
With full interactivity on NO, I can controle like I want.... With on YES, text / prompt objects are not like my client wants.

Att. my Sample:

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks.

... nobody ... ?

I know it's not the most important capability, but my client wants this "vizualisation" on the right level (corporate house-style).
Nice learning road for me to have those project requirements  ;D

My personal challenge was always on technical level, right now I learn what's important for the end-user perspective.

It may be difficult for people to respond to your post.  Answering these questions would be helpful:

What is wrong?
What is required?
What have you tried?
What version of Cognos are you using?
What web browser(s) are you using?
Do you see the same behavior in all browsers?

It would also be helpful if you could reproduce the problem using the samples and post the report spec here.  (Keep it small and simple.)

Hi Dougp,

That's why I att the screendump.

- What is wrong?
When using the "Run with full interactivity" on Yes or No the layout is not the same.
With the option on Yes I have more 'controle' on aligment (horizontal / vertical); see the att.

- What is required?
Alignment like I have with the option on No; see att.

- What have you tried?
Option with the properties Alignment, rebuild the report from scratch / other browsers

- What version of Cognos are you using?
Right now we are using 11.1.1, but with the older version it was there also

- What web browser(s) are you using?
We are using Chroom / Firefox / Internet-Explorer

- Do you see the same behavior in all browsers?
Yes it's not browser related, I think...
All browsers are on the latest version with my client

as you can see in the att. the alignments are not the same.
I can build a sample report based on the GOSALES, but you only have to switch the option in a (sample) report.
It looks like a small issue but it's vizualisation 'detail' spec from my client.

But perhaps, nobody noticed this before?

Kind regards.

I have seen the output format difference caused by three things:

  • Compatible Viewer vs. Interactive Viewer
  • IE vs. Chrome
  • viewer at design time vs. viewer at run time

Chrome handles css as-is.  IE seems to be a bit more "forgiving" (that is, deceptive and wrong).

Your answer to "What have you tried?" is not very specific.  That's why I asked for a sample report spec.

Assuming your table cells have the horizontal alignment set to "Left"...  The left alignment can also be affected by whether a prompt is required or optional.

I don't seem to have the same problem with the vertical alignment.  Try setting it to "Middle".

I also notice that there is no Size and Overflow property for the date prompt -- not even after changing the Select UI property to Edit box.  If that's the problem, you should submit an RFE to IBM.

Hi Dougp,

Thank you again for your reply on my question.

I know there are differences between IE / FireFox / Chrome, and I always test all of them.
For me, the design mode, I don't care about what's going on, because the end-users 'should' always use the run-time mode.
:) I do care what's going on with design-mode, but my test is always run-time, there it should work as expected, agree ?

I spoke with some IBM LAB engineers and show my 'situation' and it looks like it should not work like it does now.
So, they are going to solve.

For me that's good for now.

We can close this question for now, when I have a update I will create a post on this forum.

Kind Regards,

..... and for all: a happy and good 2019 !! .....
