Crosstab space height

Hi,

I don't know if the OP of http://www.cognoise.com/index.php/topic,32527.0.html found a solution, but I have a pretty similar requirement. In my case, it's two crosstabs, vertically aligned in different rows of a table, which I want to present as one (so I'll later be setting Box Type to None on the headers of the second), but with a separator between the two to indicate that they are two distinct views of the data. BTW we're on 10.2.1.

As I have two separate crosstabs, I'm not limited to using crosstab spaces as was the OP, although I've tried it. I've also tried creating new table rows, into which I've inserted a block or a text item, specifying each and every height property possible. And I've still not found a way to set the height properties of my separator - all separator rows have the same height. See this screenshot of the crosstab output in HTML:

Xtab" border="0

Does anyone have any ideas for this?

Hi,
Did you try setting up the padding to 0 px on the required sides of the separators? and also do the same for the crosstab space fact cells. Try it and let us know.
Good luck
New guy.

Hi New Guy,

Thanks very much for your suggestions. I tried (I think) every permutation of setting Top & Bottom padding to 0px :
- text item in table cell
  - table cell
- text item in crosstab space
  - crosstab space (+ associated columns as my crosstab space is in a row)
- block in table cell
  - block

and there's no difference in HTML output.

After those tests, I set every possible height setting to 2px instead of 10px in the text item in the text item in crosstab space + associated columns. Result: the row height is possibly slightly lower, but only under a microscope ...

Two remarks:
1. Since I posted this, I've realised that the report will mostly be consumed in Excel, so the row height in HTML is probably not an issue for the users
2. I followed an IBM Cognos Advanced RS course a few years ago, hoping that this sort of stuff would be covered, but it wasn't. So I guess that people such as yourself who master this clever formatting stuff have all learnt it for yourselves, individually, by trial & error.

Unless there are some resources somewhere out there that somebody would be kind enough to point me to . . .

Thx
Michael
