Hi all,

Since our upgrade to Cognos 11.0.11 in June 2018, we have been experiencing two errors consistently:

- XQE-CON-0007 XQE error encountered: No error details
- CCL-BIT-0006 The connection closed before the request is processed

These errors are happening approximately every 2-3 weeks and require a full restart of Cognos in order to get the system stable. There seem to be no specific report or activity causing these errors, or at least one that I am able to track and reproduce the error.

We've been going back and forth with IBM Support for months but have gotten nowhere.

At this point our next step is track errors in the system and potentially get ahead of the users reporting instability in Cognos. We ideally want to identify trends in when these errors are occurring to see if there is a specific time/activity causing this system instability.

My question is:
- Would it make sense to build a powershell script to scan the log files for errors or would it be better build some SQL to query for errors in the Audit database?

Sorry if this is all very general.

Thanks!

Karti

We have been in a similar situation where our system, after a few weeks of constant uptime, would begin to receive error messages out of the blue. We believe that it may be due to the Operating System being online for an extended period of time without rest and Cognos being affected by that. Our solution was to schedule a reboot every 2 weeks or so to try and see if we can get around it. If you find a trend of when it begins to happen (you said about 2-3 weeks), maybe scheduling system restarts may be able to help reduce the problem (not a true fix, unless it is the OS causing it.)
