AD Migration impact on Cognos Security

We have a Cognos 10.2.1 FP12 installation on Windows 2012 servers.

As part of our company merging with a new 'parent' company, we are told that our AD groups and users will be integrated into our parent company's AD, with access back to Active Directory aware applications, files shares and resources in our environment.

I am trying to find out what this means for Cognos security. Do we need to re-import AD Groups and Users into Cognos security after the integration? Or would the new folder structure automatically be recognized once we configure cognos with the new server name and credentials to our parent company's AD environment?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately it isn't as simple as re-importing Groups and Users as integrating in to a new AD will generate completely new CAMIDs for your users so you will need to look to undertake a security migration. This includes moving users, their content and preferences to the new namespace and updating all of the existing CAMID references to the new CAMIDs. You also need to consider whether the migration is going to be done as a 'big bang' or staged over several weeks.

MetaManager from BSP Software has a module dedicated to supporting the analyzing, mapping and migration of a Cognos Environment and includes all the functionality you need to do this, they can also do this as service, details can be found at http://www.bspsoftware.com/products/metamanager/smss/ and you can ask for a demo.
