Error CM-REQ-4029 when drilling down

Hello Cognos Experts,

I've recently encountered an error when trying to drill down from one report to another :

"CM-REQ-4029 your request does not contain a required search path"

It's really strange because it seems that the error depends on the computer i'm using... If i'm trying the drill on my desktop computer, everything works fine, but on my laptop I get this error (for the same report and account of course).
One of the users also encounters it, while it's working perfectly fine for everyone else. I obviously tried to change the permission for the report, even tried to create a new one, but nothing worked...

So my guess is that it doesn't come from the report or the permissions but maybe from the web browser or the OS I don't know...

I tried to look up for answers on the internet but didn't find much. Did anyone of you ever encountered such an error ? How did you manage to fix it ? We're using cognos 10.2.2.

Thanks a lot,

Sol

This sounds like a client-side issue, but you might want to have your admin take a look at the Cognos logs to see if there is any more information there.

So on the client, you need to find the difference. If you are using different browsers, try the same version of the same browser on each machine. Try clearing browser cookies, cache, etc. Reset the browser preferences, if possible, or run them in "safe mode" (how varies between browsers, google it). Make sure the browser versions you are using are supported for the version of Cognos you are on.

If all else fails, open a support ticket.

Hi and thanks for the answer,

The problem was indeed client-sided, the user was using a deprecated version of IE. We solved the problem by upgrading it to the next version. Another way to solve it would have been to use Firefox instead of IE (for whoever might encounter the same problem as me).

Again, thanks for your reply.

Hi All,
I ran into the same issue. Strange thing was that drill troughs worked fine and "all-of-a-sudden" a new drill through started throwing this error. After enabling Internet Explorer Compatibility mode, the error was resolved for us.
Versions: IBM Cognos BI 10.2.2, IE 11.0.9600.18500
