Adding New column Problem in Cognos Report Studio

Hi,
I am trying to adjust a query in Cognos report studio. I actually added a new column to the table, but each time I run the query, it keeps crashing giving different error output in different time e.g. Sql -9 error, traceback error, viewer restriction error. This is so weird to me because its the same query. So re-adjusted the column I added again with a simple statement like "give me the output in column A", its a very simple one, but the same problem.. If I remove this column, the query runs well.. I believe the problem is that somehow there is a restriction on adding new column..otherwise my new column is super correct.

Pls I need a suggestion on how to fix this problem

Hi,

Couple of things we need to check first. It reads like you're using relational data - is that correct? If you're using dimnesional data that might alter any answers we can give.

Have you added the column through Framework Manager? Is the additional column being selected through a package?

Have you tried looking at the data in the database? It's a bit difficult to give you an answer without the actual error message - are you saying that you get different error messages when you repeatedly try to run the query? My suspicion is that you've got some dodgy data in the column that you're trying to add, but it's hard to say for sure. Can you post the error message?
