Cognos Report Studio - Dimension Elements in Queries

Hello,

As an FYI - I am using TM1 to create cubes, so I am using Dimensional data in Report Studio, not relational data.

I created my dimensions with a limited set of elements to create my cube and then my first report, which is a prototype.

Once I had my prototype report designed and working I populated the dimensions with the full set of data.

The question/problem:

I have not reloaded the cube, so my cube should only have my limited set of elements. That is the case. For example, I have a Dimension called 'pt1_PackingLocations'. This has just two elements, G and H. In my limited set it had just one, H. If I change my element from H to G in my cube view I do not get any results, so that's fine and what I expected.

Now though, in Report Studio my Query includes both Packing Locations G and H. I'm just using my Packing Locations in this post as an example, but all of the elements are now included in each of my queries, not just those in my cube.

This results in a problem with the report. I have nested lists and a master detail link between the two queries, so now I'm getting results for Packing Location G when there is no data in my cube for Packing Location G.

If my queries were not including Dimensional elements that are not in my cube I would not have this problem. Can I limit my Queries to include just the Dimensional elements that are in my cube or is there a better way to handle this?

Thanks!

Deborah
