Transformer - Refreshing categories

Hello All,
I am looking for a solution to completely refresh my model categories, except the categories of the time dimension. I have created some special categories like Prior Year Current Quarter, Prior Year Current Month, etc, and do not want these removed during the refresh.
I think this breaks down to 2 issues
1. How do I completely refresh categories in a Transformer cube
2. How do I ensure that the categories of the time dimension are not removed

1> Save the model
2> In the Data Sources window, open the properties of the query for Time Dimension
3> Go to the General Tab and uncheck the box for 'Generate Categories'
4> Save the model again

However - what I am really looking for is that the special categories I have created do not get dropped. This is to do with the time dimension.

I have some special categories based on relative time () that will be updated during the cube build - I have a monthly build. And so the special categories with the relative time like Prior_Year_Current_Quarter, Prior_Year_Current_Month, etc.
