 Dears,

Did you notice below for running a report with email delivery

For a report, in Action list:

1) Run with option->advanced options->Run in background->Delivery:Send the report by email -> Edit the options...->You will see the default is : Attach the report.

2) Schedule->Override the default values ->Delivery:Send a link to the report by email  -> Edit the options..>You will see the default is : Include a link to the report.

Can we toggle the default delivery setting in 2) to be same as 1)?

Why they are different in design? Is it because repeated execution(schedule) with attachment email delivery can add load to cognos and email server?

Lets say you have an big report output having output more than 10 MB. And you want to run this report in background and receive email once it completes. Now generally outlook will allow maximum 10 MB attachment, so your report with size more than 10 MB will not be delivered to your inbox.

In this scenario you can prefer to have notification about report completion and to have link to report output in email body.

Another thing is if some reports are being scheduled on daily basis and having considerable size (lets say 5MB, 2MB etc) then if this report is being sent as attachment to user's inbox then he/she might have to cleanup inbox very frequently. Instead they can request a link to report output.
Thanks
