IBM Cognos Analytics 11.0.2.0 released on May 6th 2016.

Thanks MSTRCognos!

Any fix lists available? I can't find any.

Also, any documentation available for in-place upgrades? Eg moving from 11.0.1.0 to 11.0.2.0, how do you upgrade components like Cube designer, FM, Gateways with SSO enabled etc.?

MSTRCognos

You are very welcome jbertrand.

I could not find any Fixlist or documentation related to 11.0.2.0

I have tried doing In-Place upgrade on a Single Machine with Gateways and SSO enabled but it did not work.

Last In-Place upgrade(11.0.1.0 to 11.0.2.0) was done successfully with out any issue.

I am planning to try on a new machine as fresh 11.0.2.0 install and see how it goes.

Thanks. I'd like to recommend the upgrade to a few of our clients who are already running CA 11.0.0.0, but they won't accept it if it's a long winded reinstall and configure. If it's a simple procedure like the fix packs used to be, then they'll go for it.

There are quite a few blatant bugs with 11.0.0.0, which I'm sure have been corrected in the later releases, so it's actually better to upgrade.

I don't think the fix list has been released yet. I'm told 11.0.2.0 has no significant new features - just fixes.

Cheers!

MF.

Ah, excellent thanks. These URL's are difficult to find on the IBM site (imho).   :)

It wasn't up until yesterday (12th) so would have been impossible to find when you originally posted on 9th May :)
Meep!

Have you tried and 'in-place' upgrade of 11 yet ?

jbertrand

I will be trying one tomorrow. According to MSTRCognos note above, it should just install over the existing version and keep all the config files etc. I hope it keeps any custom changes like TM1 changes to planning.html etc., but we'll see.

Not sure how it works with a distributed SSO install. Eg, if you just upgrade the gateway component, does it install the whole suite, or is it clever enough to know just to install the gateway.

I had no problems upgrading 11.0.1 to 11.0.2 and on another box I went from 11.0.0 -> 11.0.2 no problems. It's like applying a patch as it doesn't mess with already configured stuff (at least I haven't seen any issues).

However, I had been playing around with the templates in 11.0.1 and so when I upgraded to 11.0.2 a lot of stuff was messed up in the GUI. Particularly the permission settings for reports and folders so I don't recommend playing with the templates as it prevents you from easily upgrading. I was able to get things back to normal by copying the template files from the 11.0.0 and re-installing 11.0.2.

I have a small group of 10 users going through and evaluating some new training material and a couple of users developing reports on 11.0.2. So far they haven't reported anything unusual.

I noticed in my upgrade from 11.0.0 -> 11.0.2 that the index.html and default.html files get reset to defaults. If you're using IIS with SSO enabled, these files need to be changed. So best to back those up before upgrading.

I did in-place upgrade to my 11.0.1 ready to run installation.
Informix database seems to be gone (for example the onscpah binary used in Informix IDS - ol_cognoscm service is nowhere to be found)...

Does anyone know if in-place upgrade leaves any backups?

As a follow-up:
- I guess  my mistake was not shutting down Informix service before installing 11.0.2.
In the installation log was a waring about copying informix directoryinto the backup directory
- Backup directory is automatically removed (or at least I did not find it after installation, "<installdir>_bkp", it existed during installation though)
- I uninstalled the non working 11.0.2 installation and tried to do a new Ready To Run install of 11.0.2: Not so easy: Uninstall (or "not installing Informix part during 11.0.2 in place update) left traces of Informix in to the registry. Had to clean registry manually to enable a new RTR-installation.
