Hi,

Finally got it running as a VMware version on my machine with a full C8 environment.
Since there isn't of course too much information available yet and there are a few nice new features, I would like to start this thread to post experiences, ideas of things that can be done with the new features, etc. and of course all the various questions.

My experience with the installation:
I did the mistake to install it on a vmware instance with a pre-Cognos8.2 version :(. Caused the Planning installation not to recognise the already existing Cognos 8 service. Wasn't able to cofigure it via the Cognos Configuration and created another (Cognos82) service. That was it. Couldn't get them together after that, even when I installed the latest 8.2 version. Ended up deinstalling everything and started from scratch.
Lesson learned: Install the latest Cognos 8.2 version and then install Planning 8.2. Worked just fine!

First thing I tried was the Live Reporting :). Set up GO_Expenses and run the "new" GTP incl. the creation of the package, went to Cognos Connection and started with Analysis Studio. Worked fine. Quite impressing!
However a few questions came up which I couldn't find an answer yet in the extensive documentation. Is there an option to limit the access of Live Reporting. The way I see it as soon as you run a GTP, everyone who has access to the Contributor application and to any Studio can build Reports on ANY cube in the application. Maybe confusing for the end users? Is there no way to select the cubes or swith it off at all?

Happy experience sharing :)
Regards
Carsten

That´s a good question about security.

Remeber, in contributor  the security is based on elist item. I think that users will see all cubes of applications but only the elist they have access not all elists items.
