Hi,

I am planning to secure the reports through database tables. For example there will be a set of reports for a particular user, and a database table with the user and report name. When that user logs in he will only see those reports in cognos connection.
Is there anyway to implement this.  ::)

Cognos version: 10.2.2 FP1
Database: MS SQL Server 2012
Authentication provider: Microsoft Active Directory

Any input will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

As you have posted this question in admin forum I assume you are administrator of your Cognos environment. If not contact your cognos administrator for this particular requirement. This can be achived straightaway through secuirty in cognos connection. Any particular reason that you are looking to implement this through database tables ?
Thanks

Yes, I would like to implement it through database. I am aware of the cognos groups and roles and it is handled through this way now.
But it requires AD groups or manually adding the users to cognos groups. So we are looking for a way to handle it through the database tables. Hope it makes sense.

May be instead of adding the users from AD to a cognos group, adding it directly from a database table.I think this is going to be difficult as there is not much visibility on the content store database structure.
May be a report that shows the folder structure based on the table entries.
May be another authentication provider.

I am not sure which is the best way to follow. I would like to know if somebody has implemented it before. :)
