Deploying Dynamic Cube from Dev to QA to Prod - Best Practices

Hi all!  I was wondering what method everyone is using to deploy their dynamic cubes from one environment to another.  I just attempted moving a cube from Dev to QA using the Cognos export/import method and made sure to checkmark the include data sources and connections option.  However, this brought over all cubes not just the one used in my package and it modified all data connections. I don't see a way to pick specific cubes and specific data connections.  I am using 10.2.1 FP4. If you are using a third party (BSP or Motio), to deploy the dynamic cubes I would like to know that also.  We have Meta Manager but I don't see a way to deploy dynamic cubes with it.

Thanks....

I am wondering this also.  From what I've read it looks like you can only publish to a server via Cube Designer and that migration is not an option.

Migration is an option, but the deployment archrive created during export needs to be manually altered to prevent migration of all Data Sources from source environment to the target.

IBM Cognos... add the capability to export only selected Data Sources.... PUH-LEEEEASE!!

How about creating Data Sources in PROD manually ?

In IBM Cognos 10.2.2 (and I assume back) there is no provision (no "IBM Cognos Dynamic Cube" selection in the Type list) to create a Dynamic Cube data source, like there is for creating data source for an Oracle database, or a PowerCube, etc...

Can you expand what you are suggesting into more detail?

Thanks... Mark

Sorry for not being clear. I meant migrating the cube designer model to PROD and then publishing the physical/virtual cubes from it which will create Data sources in PROD.

Yep... that is the other option listed in the July 2015 Redbook, which is still in draft, and how I will be proceeding in my current client's project.  I just overall don't like it.

The Modeler either

1. has to re-point Cognos Config to new environment before publishing (not a huge deal but a bit clunky)
... or ...
2. has to have multiple Cognos Cube designer installs, with each pointing to a specific environment.

The latter is how we are going to proceed.

Thanks... Mark
