Looking to get some information on Cognos conferences (similar to Dreamforce) or Cognos training (online or live) that would help build a solid foundation from a reporting standpoint. Any and all information is appreciated.

Hi,

IBM (via their business partners) offer official training courses which are generally quite good. They have a landing page here:

http://www-01.ibm.com/software/analytics/training-and-certification/

You can then click through and select the Professional Author role, and see the courses they recommend for this:

http://www-304.ibm.com/services/learning/ites.wss/zz/en?pageType=page&c=U811675N25558U95

The real-value courses for you will be B5A58, B5A59 and (if you are planning to author from dimensional sources) B5A61

The first two of these are also available as SPVC (Self Paced Virtual Class) offerings - as J2A58 and J2A59, if you don't want to attend classroom training.

Cheers!

MF.

As far as conferences, the Big One(tm) for Cognos is part of the annual IBM Insight conference held every fall. I think they are great conferences. I alternate with a colleague, so I get to go every other year. My turn in 2015. :)

I agree it is a great event! Not sure when I'll get back there again ... I tracked the muppet down, found his lair, and then decided to move to his country where stalking will be more convenient :) but that puts me quite a bit further away from Las Vegas.

I have heard that tracking down the elusive muppet requires dedication and perseverance. Some say he is an experimental module for Watson, as it is much more difficult to be a Cognos expert than to win at Jeopardy.  ;D

If you succeed, you simply must take a picture. I am not sure the picture we see the muppet using here is real.

Oooo. Really? Next you'll be telling me you know I will be in the White Star this evening... :)

Oh my! Would you really want to see a picture? Imagine Yoda but small and old - very old... :)

That's a good point. Yoda is already pretty small, and old.

"When nine hundred years old you reach, look as good, you will not, hmmm?"

So you are over 900 years old? Well, I *am* impressed.  8)

Wow! As I read those words I heard them in Yoda's voice? Is that really you, Master? :)

Yes, it is daunting trying to track the muppet and quite frankly I'm exhausted! He is a wily character to be sure!!

I have been all across the globe on this quest but I feel I'm getting close. I really thought success was mine in Rome where I posed as a huckster peddling selfie extenders by the coliseum. I grabbed this photo from a couple who purportedly knew of his whereabouts but it was, sadly, a false lead. On the plus side I did make €12 selling the selfie sticks :)

hahaha.... nice pic, and it is good to have some humor on a Monday even if it makes me long to be elsewhere.  ;D
