Hello,

Had a setup of Cognos environment, 2 servers in Application tier.
We see Cognos10 service is up and running on both Application Servers.
Do I need to install Cognos again on Webserver tier, what are all components that need to be installed on Web Server and what services should be up.
Thanks and appreciate your help here.

Regards,
Raj

Hi,

The only component you require on the web server is the Gateway. It needs to be installed and configured (to know about the application server dispatcher URI to forward requests on to) but there are no Cognos services involved in this tier.

Hello MFGF,

Thank you for taking time to reply,
I have installed, and in Congos configuration was configured with Application Sever Dispatcher URL's.
Tomcat is required for Cognos to execute?
I don't see any Cognos service in Server. My Http://localhost:Cognos8 is not accessible.
Am i missing anything here?
Appreciate your help.

Regards,
Rajesh.

There are no Cognos services on the web server, as I mentioned in my last post. You won't see anything to start in Services or in Cognos Configuration on the web server machine - this is completely normal.

Your Application Server machine(s) and Content Manager machine should both have services, though.

Don't forget you need to configure your web server application pools and virtual directories.

Cheers!
