I'm working in Cognos 10.1.1 Report Studio.  I'm looking for some good resources on static formatting.  I am working on a prompt page.  I am aware that I can change the font type, font size, font color, background color, bold, underline and italics settings.  I'm looking for some tips on positioning controls on the prompt page.  There are sets of calendar controls on the prompt page to choose date ranges.  I'd like to center a heading over each set of calendar controls.  I used block controls and text item controls to achieve this.  I couldn't find the feature in cognos to center the headings over each set of calendar controls; I added spaces in the text item.  Is there an easier way to center text?  What are some other tips on formatting?  Should I use css?

Personally, I prefer to use tables for situations like this. You can add the heading text item to an upper table cell and the date prompt to a lower table cell, then center the contents of each cell. No extra spaces are required, and the centering would adapt based on the rendered width of the table.
