Hi,

Have anyone used esri maps for ibm cognos and set interactive behaviour with maps.

I am using levels in my prompts and If i pass that value on click of an item in my map , my result is no data available .
But when I use relational model and pass a data item then I get data.

The interactive behaviour like set prompts doesnt seem to work with cube dataitem.(when passing levels from a hierarchy)Example passing a state level on click of it and showing a list with some additional information.

Any idea..I created a ticket with esri and they are not sure why this happens and think there is issue in our cube data..

If anybody has used esri maps for cognos with cube data and passed levels on interactive behaviour..please suggest..

Thanks,
Nithya

I haven't used ESRI maps, but I have a suspicion of what might be going on. You need to understand that in any OLAP data source, each member has two distinct attributes - its ID and its caption. You automatically see captions displayed in any report, but under the covers the members are represented by their MUN (Member Unique Name) which is the path and ID of the member. The ID may be a completely different value than the caption you see. For example, the United Kingdom member might have an ID of 833 and a caption of United Kingdom. Although you see the caption, it's highly likely the ID is getting passed to ESRI. You could try using the caption() function in a query calculation to deliver only the caption of your level and see if that fixes the issue?

All guesswork on my part, though...

Thanks a ton MFGF.  And passing the caption(DataItem) worked perfectly.
I had many calls with ESRI support and they had no idea why this is not working and once I thought its not able to recieve the value I send, but never thought of passing the caption.
I was little hesitant to post a question related to esri integration here , but thankfully your solution helped me out.
Thank You !!!
