External Data Report - Error Generating PDF or Excel

Hello my fellow Cognos peers,

I'm having an interesting issue with external data.  I imported a CSV into it's own namespace without linking it to an existing report or query subject (does not need).  I then created a join with the external data to a query from the main package.  The report runs fine in HTML but when I try to run for PDF or Excel, I get the following error:

"The request failed because the associated report service process with pid 3860 is unavailable."
