description fields for Leaf members

I wonder if anyone has come across this , using dimensional data in crosstab

in a cube dimension I have put levels ie

  Level 1
    Members
    Member description

  Level 2
    Members
    Member description

on the crosstab rows the user wants the leaf members of the dimension ie the member displayed can originate from any level
No problem I get the leaf members
Then the user wants the member description field next,  but if you say drag and drop the members description in from level 1 then if the leaf originated from level 1 fine you get the description but if the leaf member originates from level 2 then you get blank.

I tried dragging in all the member descriptions from every level but then if say the leaf member is from level 2 you get the description for level 2 AND the description from level 1.
My only thought is to take the levels out of the dimension , but then other reports I have written against this won't work any more.

solved this myself,

Put member descriptions in with lowest level at the top
