Hi to all,

1- We managed to use gauge charts in our IBM Cognos v10 reports

2- We are able to display the needle as expected and pointing to the correct percent value of the GAUGE chart

3- But,i want to be able to divide the GAUGE PALETTE like the following:
GAUGE AXIS from LEFT to RIGHT: -100% to -1% in RED
GAUGE AXIS at 0% in YELLOW
GAUGE AXIS from LEFT to RIGTH: 1% to 100% in Green

4- The 0 must be and is already set in the middle

Si that possible ?

Thanks in advance for any valuable feed-back !

1. Select the Gauge Axes icon in the chart
2. In the Axis Range property, set the Maximum to be Manual with a value of 1 and the Minimum to be Manual with a value of -1
3. In the Gauge Axis Colors property, leave the Red at 0%, set the Yellow at 49% and the Green at 100%

Cheers!

MF.

Hi again,

I forgot to mention how the gauge graphic is beeing set:

-> Default metrics:    None
-> Series (Needles):    Only One Data Item that calculates the percentage value as follows: ( [Current Sales] - [Quotas Sales] / [Quotas Sales] ) *100
-> Categories (Gauges):  [Region#]

Thanks again for any valuable feed-back!

Hmmm. Looks like you ar using the legacy charting engine not the Cognos 10 charting engine? No matter - it's achievable, just a little different.

Here's what you need to do:

1. Select the "Gauge numerical Axis" (hint - click directly below the image of the gauges where you see "0   n      0    n")
2. Set the maximum value property to 100 and the minimum value property to -100
3. Select the entire gauge
4. In the Gauge Palette property set the value between red and yellow to 49 and the value between yellow and green to 51

Cheers!

MF,

I did not enter all values you suggested, that is, the 51 value but my gauge chart seems to be working fine.

Please take 30 seconds to look at the attached print screen.

Thanks agin for your valuable support !

Thanks for posting. That isn't what you asked for, though. You said you wanted red from -100% to -1%, yellow at 0% (ie -1% to 1%) and green from 1% to 100%. The instructions I posted above give you this.

From the looks of what you have, you missed the step of selecting the Gauge Numerical Axis and setting the max to 100 and the min to -100?

Otherwise, just follow what I said to achieve your original requirement.

Regards,

MF.
