Mobile Installation onto existing 10.1.1

Hi All,

I have just tried to install Cognos Mobile onto an existing Cognos 10.1.1 installation, however I accidentally installed it into the same folder as the Framework Manager.. As opposed to the BI Server.  Since installing it in the wrong location I am wondering;

Is there any way to uninstall it without removing the entire Cognos installation?
Is there a way to get Cognos mobile working when installed with framework manager?

Hi,

I think still you can install cognos mobile on your Cognos BI server.

I am not sure if there is any harm to have mobile installed on FM. But still if you have backup for FM installation directory then it can restored.

Which I assumed was because of the installation in FM?

Hi,

No - this means the version you are trying to install is different from the BI server version - either it's a 32-bit install and your server version is 64 bit (which is my guess) or you have (say) a 10.1.1 BI server and a 10.1 Mobile install?

Yeah. This is not a result of your wrong installation on FM.


Your BI server and framework manager would have been installaed on seaprate directories ..right ?

So anything wrong happended to framework manager will not affect your BI server.

As said by MF this seems to be difference in version.

Also, you can uninstall the mobile piece from your 32-bit (FM) install - just go to Start > Programs > IBM Cognos 10 > Uninstall IBM Cognos 10, and when prompted to choose which components to uninstall, select just the Mobile component.

Yes I was trying to install a 32-bit version of Cognos Mobile to a 64-bit Server. My company had the 64-bit server, 32-bit FM/mobile in a shared directory. Would I be able to download the 64-bit mobile version from IBM's website with a sufficient login?

@ Meep - That uninstallation step did not click to me :( I was thinking to restore backup only.

@ willg - Not sure about access, you will need to check with this IBM only.Few dayas ago I was also in this confusion and called IBM , they told person's name from my orgiazation who are having full access to download installable files etc.

Also they guided me how to get access. So bettert to call IBM in this situation.
