Hi,

We recently upgraded to Cognos 10.2.1 with SQL Server 2012 and Active Directory.  I've got my data source connection set up in Cognos Administration and it connects successfully. However, when I try to run any of our reports, I'm prompted for the AD account credentials that are used for the data source connection. Once I enter them, I will get report output.

Any ideas as to how to get rid of the prompt?  I've added Windows Authentication to my web server and enabled it for the application pool/website for Cognos. I've checked IE for various settings (Enable windows authentication).  I've changed the identity in the Application Pool settings on the web server so that it looks at the AD account.

Any other suggestions??

Thanks!

Can you check if everyone group is added under the signon of data source.

Click on data source. It will open the connection. Again click on it and it will open the signon. Click on sigon properties , then click on sigon tab and check if everyone group is added there or not.

If not, add everyone group there. This might resolve your issue.
Thanks

Thanks for your reply however, I'm using Active Directory as authentication so it uses the external namespace as authentication vs  sign on. So, there is no where to add 'Everyone' since there is no sign on.

Thanks anyway...

If you want to use windows authentication for SQL database connections in Cognos data sources, you must configure Cognos services to start as the same account that you use in data source authentication.
Go to services-->Log On and select 'This account' and use the same user that you have in data source.
And then, select to use service account authentication option for the data source.
However, this forces you to use the same user for all data sources.

I can't find 'Go to services-->'Log On' and select 'This account' '. Where is this ..in Cognos Configuration file? In Cognos Configuration I can see 'IBM Cognos Services' -> 'IBM Cognos'. But I can't see 'Log On' anywhere.

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

It's in Windows - Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
