Returning from a selected chart element

So the Chart is linked to the List Report and selects the year and activity in the list.
Click on the chart, the data appears on the list. So far so good.
Click on a different element and a different selection is made on the list, still good.
Now once the user is done clicking on the elements in the chart, how can the user return to the status of the chart and the list before any selection was made?
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

OK either it is a dumb question, or nobody has an answer...
Anyway, I created a reset button and placed in under the chart.
The users can figure it out pretty quick.
The button resets the 3 variables that the chart is passing over to the list to empty values and restores the chart to its default state.

Hi JBCLARK,

I do have the same issue. but, in my scenario, i have a North america map instead of chart. Can you send me the process to create that 'RESET' button. Appreciate your quick response.

Thanks a bunch,
Sunil

It's not a bad idea to learn how variables work in active reports. To do this, open you report in Report Studio and run it. Then on the report right-click and select Show variables. This can help you and see what happens when you Reset them...
