Hi Guys,

Need some help with the following issue.

When I am trying to run reports in Cognos 10, I get the following error:

Unable to execute the request because there were no connections to the process available within the configured time limit.

Details
Handler trace back: [the_dispatcher] com.cognos.pogo.handlers.performance.PerformanceIndicationHandler [the_dispatcher] com.cognos.pogo.handlers.logic.ChainHandler [service_lookup] com.cognos.pogo.handlers.engine.ServiceLookupHandler [load_balancer] com.cognos.pogo.handlers.logic.ChainHandler [lb_forwarder] com.cognos.p2plb.clerver.LoadBalanceHandler [reportservicechain] com.cognos.pogo.handlers.logic.ChainHandler [warp_with_authenticate] com.cognos.pogo.handlers.logic.ChainHandler [do_warp] com.cognos.pogo.handlers.logic.ChainHandler [warpmta] com.cognos.pogo.reportservice.ReportServerHandler

In Cognos Administration, I checked the Current Activities >> Interactive activities.
I see around 22 activities out there with Executing status.

Last time I faced this issue, I cancelled all the Interactive activities, but this doesn't seem to be the permanent solution.

I have 2 dispatcher, only 1 of the dispatcher has all these activities, the other one does not have any activity.
Also, I checked the Queue time for the report service. It is 240 secs for both the dispatchers.

I would like to know what exactly is Interactive Activities and how can one create one ?
The Run by property of the activity shows "Unavailable", so I am not even able to track which user is trying to run the report. I have attached the screenshot of my Cognos Administration page

Any guidance will be helpful.

Thanks,
Ajay

Ajay,

Did you just upgrade to Cognos 10? Then the credentials most likely have to be set again.
What you have to do is remove the schedules or run the schedules as e.g. your account. (Go to properties of the schedule and click the set credentials button (don't know the exact text for this button))

Thanks for your reply.

@Lin: I don't think that restarting the service will be a permanent solution. It may occur again.
@Reportnet Addict: Yes, we upgraded to Cognos 10 last year. This is actually not a schedule or else I could have seen these in the Schedule section. I see these under Current Activties >> Interactive activities section.

It seems that only 1 or 2 report is causing the issue. However, when I go and run those reports, they runs smoothly without any issue. All I am doing is everyday I cancel these reports which are in the Executing status.

If you run it by hand, it will  run under your current credentials and not under the saved credentials... Try to run it under your credentials...
