Hi,

Looks like either your Cognos 8 service is not running or your have not configured your FM machine to talk to the Cognos 8 server.

What happens if you try to connect to Cognos 8 through a web browser?

MF.

Description:

DPR-ERR-2056 Report Server is not responding when trying to create a datasource connection against SQL Server 2000.  There are other content manager related errors also thrown in the cogserver.log

Error Message:

DPR-ERR-2056 Report Server is not responding

CM-SYS-5003 Content Manager is unable to access the content store. Verify your database connection parameters and then contact your database administrator.

Failed Logon:com.jnetdirect.jsql.g: TCP/IP connection failed to host:localhost java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect
url:jdbc:JSQLConnect://localhost:1433/CM

Environment:

SQL Server 2000 non-SP version 8.00.194

Root Cause:

Unsupported database version.  SQL Server 2000 should be at SP4 to function properly

Solution:

Apply SP4 and recreate the content store and reporting databases.  Ensure that a the Latin_General_CI_AS collation name is used

There could be multiple reasons for the problem,

1. If you install BI server and Modelling in separate folders/machines,

check whether the version of the two is same (cmplst.txt).
check whether the modelling instance configuration is properly configured/saved to talk to your server instance.

2.If you are using SQL server 2000-non SP version (8.00.194) for datasource connection,

Apply SP4 and recreate the content store and reporting databases.  Ensure that a the Latin_General_CI_AS collation name is used

3.If you are using Oracle for datasource connection,

Check whether oracle client is installed on FM machine and tns entry is present in tnsnames.ora file.

Let me know if it helps..
