Hi All,

The cognos 10 is very slow when logged in through the VPN. Is this because of enabling the features like trace log files and Printing dump files?

Can anyone help me out on how to disable these featuers? It would be of a great help to me.

Thanking you in advance.

The accessing Cognos via VPN has nothing to do with DUMPS or tracing. It has everything to do with the fact that Cognos sends a metric $#!7ton of data across the pipe and the size/speed of your VPN pipe. Now you can help to improve this performance by changing the configuration on your webserver providing the Cognos Gateway stuff. You need to enable a longer content expiration for the cognos Virtual Directory. See your webserver docs on how to do this.

The other obvious point is get a bigger VPN pipe with more Upstream speed (Downstream for you at home/away).

A work around to this is to VPN in and then RDP to a local machine on the network, then access Cognos from that local machine.
