I have a cube where there are no fields with the same name between the data sources. I had thought that the cube is created based on the fields that are of the same name between data soucrces. I had thought that if this is the case then i would get an error message. To my surprise the cube didnt. Does it mean it worked out fine and if so how?

It simply means that your measures will not be in scope with your dimensions. If this is the case, your cube will be rather useless. If there are fields in your measures query that contain the same values as fields in your dimensional queries but have different names, you can still link them, but it is a manual process.
