Hi All,

I have couple of impromptu report issues which have become a pain .We haven't been able to resolve and have raised a PMR with cognos also. Any input from you guys would help us tremendously as this has become a major production concern for all of us.

1) We have come across several reports which have not stopped working, i mean the reports which were working fine till now have suddenly stopped returning any data since last couple of days.
The report and catalog was last modified back in 2009 and was working fine till now.

As part of investigation, we modified the catalog datasource from Prod to test datasource and the report works fine. Please know that Prod and Test databases are in sync now.
We tried to check report by report also and could make it work after modifying few calculations or filters, but our concern why the same calculation which was working fine earlier could stop responding now and why it works when pointed to different datasource.

both Prod and UAT environment are in sync. I will really appreciate if you guys have come across these type of issues. Is there any known compatibility issues with the Db2 9.4 and impromptu 7.1.

In short, the report which was working fine in prod has now stopped working. when pointed to different database it works fine. Both the environments and data are in Sync.
Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Sudheen

If nothing changed in the report or the catalog, the most likely cause would be the volume of data returned has become too large.  This could also explain why it would work in a non production environment that has less data than production.  Try taking the sql generated by the report and (possibly with the help of DBA) examine the query explain plan directly in your data source.  You should be able to get an idea of how much data is being returned.  You may be forced to modify the report with additional filters to reduce the result set.
