Master Detail Relationship Question

I need to create a report that has a header with Fiscal Year, Month, Branch.  Then I need a detail table that has each specific branches details.  Also, I need Cognos to create a new page every time it reaches a different branch.

Example:

December
2011
Branch:  NY

     Details NY 1
     Details NY 2
     Details NY 3

-------------------------(new page)--------------

December
2011
Branch:  LA
     Details LA 1
     Details LA 2
     Details LA 3

I've done this one time before and want to say I used Repeater tables and set the Master/detail relationship but I'm not sure how each Branch started a new page.

Any help?  Thx.

Have you tried grouping the page by the Branch ?

Tsunami

I didn't know you could group the entire page.  That sounds like it could work.

How would I do that?

2 Ways -

1> From the Page Explorer, select 'Report Pages'. Select your page, in the properties, associate it with the Query, then in the Group properties, select the Branch.

2> Click on the Branch, from the 'Structure' Menu, select 'Set Page Break'.

Thanks!

I was actually able to get it to work using a page set and setting the grouping property to Branch.  It works but do you know of any pitfalls that may occur using this method?

Not that I know of. Maybe others can share their experiences here.

I did this for somebody and they used this to generate the report in PDF to give it to their salesreps who
were using it for discussions with clients in meetings.
