Hi folks,

i'm building up a test environment with C10.1 on a Win2008 32bit server virtual machine. Actually there is no security in the Cognos system (everybody = Administrator). For test purposes i need to activate security in Cognos and want to be able to play around with some testusers and groups.

What is the fastest and easiest way to do this job?

Hi there

Use NTLM security based on the Windows OS security, then create groups within Cognos.
If you have Series 7 software, you could set up the Series 7 namespace and use this but you would still need to map the userclasses to roles with the cognos namespace.

OR if you are game you could set up Active Directory as a namespace

Its fairly manual to set the authroization up so I'd setup a diagram of what you need before you begin.. Yes the old notepad and pen.. low tech but guarenteed to make work in the long run

How about this, "Authenticate to IBM Cognos 8 Based on Flat Files":

Seems to work with Linux 64bit 10.1.1 installation....
