What is meant by 'estimate' ? Do you have to provide an estimated time to the client for the development?

I'm afraid your question is rather vague.  What you are asking is rather like saying "I want to cook a meal with meat and vegetables. How long will it take me?" The length of time it takes will depend on the amout of effort required to morel the data, which depends on how and where it is stored, how clean the data is, whether measures need to be allocated, whether the details are unique, what dimensional hierarchies are required and whether the structures are standard or can vary within the dimension, how security must be applied, what special categories are needed etc etc etc.

You would need to give much more detail on all of the above for anyone to be able to have any chance of helping you.

ouch.....This is going to be tough. Could you may be help me in one or more of the below ways

1) Walk me through a requirement that you worked on and how you came up with the estimate

2) Maybe list the very basic features in a cube, that are answers to the questions that you would look for in your cube requirement exploration, like as you mention security, special categories, etc

I need to get an idea on the process to arrive at estimating and also a example of how it was done earlier.

Tough?
